About to open a bottle of 2022 Balsall Creek Aligotew tonight (thank you Monte) along with our 2023 Aligoté.
Food, where do I start?I would love some ideas, beyond tradition.

I nominate fried catfish, hush puppies, cole slaw.
Now that is a good looking dinner! Which was the best?
We opened up an Oregon Aligoté, Balsall Creek. Bright and steely, super fun. We did okonomiyaki with it. I think Aligoté has way more food versatility than I thought.
No bad wines there. It was quite a range of styles so “best” comes down to context and personal preference. Mine, this day, was the 2015 Clavelier but I generally like a bit of age on them. Fichet was a strong second.
Fichet is a strong contender for sure. If I can find the Clavelieir, I will grab it. I am curious about mouthfeel and acidity. Were any of your options not too lean, but not barrel rich in mouthfeel?
My flight was last year and I don’t have detailed notes so can’t give a wine-by-wine breakdown, but I’d say that most of these fit your description of neither too lean nor barrel rich. The prices are all reasonable so I’d encourage you to just explore.
Excellent. Just got an email from Martin. Thank god Aligoté still holds reasonable pricing!
Sadly I don’t see it in your lineup but based on your recommendation I popped the 2020 Cathiard last night with fish tacos and it was positively outstanding. Every other wine gets drowned out by the lime juice and onion and Chipotle mayo. I’ve never really bought any Aligoté but I’m going to have to grab a few cases for fish taco night.
