I had a '19 DiCo last night with a Flannery ribeye. So as I’m always great on keeping promises and not buying anything today, had to place a small order for some DiCo! These wines always overdeliver!
For anyone on the fence, there are a ton of threads about how Napa Valley cabernet can’t compete with Bordeaux in the under $100 range. Di Co is not only the exception in the obvious way (price), it has a classical spine that should make old world fans very happy.
Perfect combo! The '19s are in such a nice spot at the moment. Thanks for the share!
So Erin, I also love the 19 DiCo…so which is more like the 19, the 21 or the 22?
Great question!
The '21 is more classically built, more structured. In two years, it will be very much like how the '19 is today. The '22 is more open. Still fine and present tannins. But there is a softer polish to the '22 and I find more instant gratification in the '22s.
Partly this is because we moved wineries in 2022, and the new facility has a newer and more precise destemmer, and we also used an optical sorter that year. Those two things added a little precision to the vintage. It’s still on the savory, classic side of history, though.
Did this help? Short answer might be '21.
Thanks for the insight!
Thanks Erin ! Just placed our order! Hope you and Maximo are doing well!

Some of my favorite Napa Cabernet - and one of the only ones I buy with any degree of regularity. Their DiCo is an absolute steal!!
Not grabbing anything this go round, but just stopping by to say love Di Costanzo wines, both Di Co and SVD’s, and that Erin is fantastic!
Hi Erin!
Hi friend! Thank you!
Todd, great to “see you” - thanks so much!
