Di Costanzo: it's a DI CO disco! 🪩 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Let’s Go! :wave:t3: Hi all, we’re Erin and Massimo Di Costanzo of Di Costanzo Wines. Massimo is a celebrated winemaker who cut his teeth at UC Davis, Tignanello, Ovid, and Screaming Eagle. I’m a certified sommelier and fine wine professional, with 20 years of experience in restaurants, wine retail, and winery development. Together, we’re a mighty team of two. St. Helena, California, is home, and we’d love to welcome you for a tasting sometime.

Since founding Di Costanzo in 2010, Massimo and I have been making small lots of wines with a careful focus on single vineyard Di Costanzo Cabernet Sauvignons from Napa and Sonoma. In recent years, we added Costa Pinot Noir and DI CO Chardonnay to our production.

But today? For BerserkerDay16, wanted to dig into the cellar to highlight our beloved DI CO Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Always 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, and nearly always from 40+ year old vines, grown at a beautiful site at the base of Mt. Veeder.

Sure, we can call DI CO our entry level wine, but it’s always been more than that. When we added DI CO to our portfolio in 2016, our goal was to dramatically over-deliver in the Napa Cab category. Intentionally made (no purchased juice or leftover barrels here), each year DI CO is a seriously made and seriously delicious Napa Cabernet.

The 2020 & the 2022 DI CO are entirely from the Rafael Vineyard (seen in the pic above) boasting 40+ year old Cabernet Sauvignon vines of spectacular health and quality. The 2021 is about 1/2 Rafael, 1/2 Ferrogiarro Vineyard in Coombsville, a dry-farmed, organic site we only snapped up for one year.

In years past, this wine has been poured by the glass at Eleven Madison Park and The French Laundry. Just last month, it was featured as a ā€œtremendousā€ Napa Cab of ā€œexcellent valueā€ by Esther Mobley in the SF Chronicle.

What a perfect time to get your Napa Cabernet Sauvignon fix from an independent, artist-owned brand, where you can find so much wine for your dollar. Thank you to this community for supporting this wine since day one!

press

ā€œā€¦ a delicate balance of herbs and cassis, with a subtle note of licorice. Medium to full-bodied, (the 2020) is streamlined and not overdone. Instead, it’s nicely balanced, finishing long, with slightly dusty tannins… impressive, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon." - 92 points, Wine Advocate

ā€œThe 2021 DI CO is a supremely overdelivering Cabernet Sauvignon…a really impressive effort, combining approachability with sophistication.ā€ 93 points, Decanter

ā€œDark, savory and expressive, the 2022 has a ton to offer (with) plenty of the savory, old-school character that is typical of these wines, but with less imposing structure and more immediacy… the DI CO delivers tremendous quality and value.ā€ – 93 points, Vinous

ā€œIn just over a decade, Erin and Massimo Di Costanzo have established themselves as elite producers of classically leaning, old-school inspired wines.ā€ – Antonio Galloni

Worth sharing: a bit ago @Adam_Frisch kindly kicked off a TN thread on our 2020 DI CO, thanks Adam! Link to that thread here.

And here’s a post I wrote a while back talking about our 2020 experience and how and why we’re so glad we made this wine.

Just refreshed!

Thank you! Just updated, please lmk if it doesn’t reflect that now?

I’m still seeing the higher price ($75 for the 22)

Jason, thank you - please PM me your order & I can assist! I updated but cookies and all that might not make it update in your browser right away… BIG apologies!

No worries…I’ll try logging out and back in and see if it fixes it

Update: that seemed to. It shows as $75 in the offer, but in the cart it rings up correctly
