Denver Area volunteers needed

As part of my position with the CO Wine Board I help coordinate the CO Governor’s Cup Cup Colorado Winemaking Competition. This year’s competition will be held July 15-17 at Metro State. We are in need of volunteers to help pour wine, deliver glass, and simply make the event flow smoothly. If any Denver area forumites are interested in helping out, you might get to taste some wine (or bring some home) and meet some of our more notable judges (including Warren Winiarski, Alder Yarrow, Linda Murphy, Mike Dunne…).

If you are available and interested, the shifts are:

Saturday, July 16, 8 AM-6 PM: opening entries, pouring glasses, serving the judges, organizing entries and general maintenance for the judging. We anticipate another 250 entries this year. Breakfast and lunch will be served.

Sunday, July 17, time TBD: The start time will depend on how many wines we get tasted on Saturday. In the past, we have asked volunteers to arrive at 9 AM or so, but it could be earlier or later. We generally finish by Noon and clean up by 2-3 PM. Breakfast and lunch will be served.
Please forward this message to anyone else you know who might be interested in helping us with this judging. All volunteers must be over 21.

If you are interested and available to volunteer, please let me know and identify which shifts you are able to work. If you have any questions or would like more information, don’t hesitate to pm me.

We are in for Saturday

Great!

Mel and Brian, thanks for helping out on Saturday! I hope you guys had a good time and brought home some decent bottles! If any other Denver area berserkers are interested, there will be a tasting of the top 18 wines paired with small bites on Aug 4 at the History Colorado Center. Send me a PM and I can provide a 10% off code…

I just wanted to add that we took Warren Winiarski on a quick trip of Western Colorado immediately following the competition. Here is a little local news segment on Warren’s visit (I just love the mis-transcribed text and Warren thought it was hilarious too!!). Mike Dunne and Alder Yarrow were among the judges and I’m sure TomHill will post their articles on the competition when they get published!
