Delivered without signature

Ever since Covid, I have noticed a huge increase of deliveries just left on my doorstep many without even a doorbell ring. Of my shipments this year, I have signed for 3 out of 8 and 3 were just left. Fortunately my ring camera notifies me but really. I understood during the height of the pandemic but now?

Is this a wine topic? Wine can’t be left without an adult signature.

Delivery workers are moving more packages than ever on pretty much the same routes and alcohol shipping has increased. Most workers don’t have the time to wait for a signature on all these and stay on track. Likely if you’ve already had a number of alcohol shipments they consider you as a trusted recipient and will just leave it.

I chalk this up to lose-lose situation. I wish I didn’t have to sign for all my purchases, would be nice if they would leave them instead…

I just ship to FedEx Walgreens or pick up from ups.

I’ve got a nice bridge in Brooklyn for sale my friend. Very cheap for you…

I almost never sign for my wine when they do come to the door and a couple of the guys often leave them on the porch, in the sun, without even ringing the doorbell, just like the OP.

But that is also why almost all my wine shipments are sent to my offsite.

Yup. I have had a few drivers/carriers (who I will not name) who knew me and would leave the box without a signature, even though they’re not supposed to. I greatly appreciate it, because the alternative is all too often the delivery being missed because I’m in a meeting upstairs, and don’t make it to the door in time. Our neighborhood is safe, I have cameras everywhere, and when/if I’m actually going to be away when a delivery is attempted I have multiple safeguards (generally I’ll redirect it or hold it, but I can also have the house sitter or a neighbor grab it if needed).

My life would be much easier if all of them would deliver without needing a signature, but I do understand that the drivers are putting themselves at risk by violating the policy to do that, so I don’t blame them for following the rules. I’m just thankful for the handful who are willing to bend them…

I haven’t been asked for a signature since I’m not sure when. Our drivers know me and they leave the wine in our locked lobby

I probably am asked to sign for about 10% of alcohol deliveries now, and probably 25% of my deliveries either falsely claim I wasn’t home or bump me to the next day after being out for delivery literally all day. I feel like there was a period of time last fall when they tried to have me sign more frequently, but they’re pretty much always just leaving it now.
