Dehlinger Offering...Pinot Noir Brandy?

From Dehlinger:

2005 Pinot Noir Brandy-
"Our 2005 Pinot Noir Brandy is a collaborative effort between Dehlinger and the renowned Germain-Robin distillery in Mendocino County. (To read the full story of this once-in-a-lifetime endeavor, click on the “Read PDF of Dehlinger Newsletter” link above.) Our brandy has a fine and complex aroma of walnuts and vanilla that is best appreciated with a one ounce pour in a large round glass. Spend an hour with it: just touch a few drops of the delicious liquid to the tongue as you smell the ethereal fumes. Only 100 cases resulted from the original ten tons of grapes (Alcohol is 40%). This rare brandy will make a great holiday gift for a friend, colleague, or yourself. Due to the small quantity and uniqueness of this product, our regular allocation system would not work. Ask for what you want, and we will divide it up as fairly as possible after the deadline. The price is $90 per bottle. "

This one looks pretty interesting. I might have to buy a bottle. Anyone ever try something similar to this?

I’m not going to buy it but would certainly be intrigued to try it. I’m still hoping Tom Dehlinger will do another batch of Zinfandel.

In the past I found some Germain-Robin offerings underwhelming, but a bottle last winter (the regular release I think) was actually really good, and a great value. No reason this shouldn’t be good.

I sampled pre-bottling last year. Was pretty powerful stuff at the time and definitely meant to be sipped from a large snifter. Just the fact that it’s made by Tommy-D is a treat, and always like to support these small, special bottlings from independent wineries. Fun thing about Tom is he’s always experimenting, and IMO always releases quality product. I think Brandy aficionado’s will appreciate this offering.

Why does anyone still recommend drinking brandy from a snifter-like glass? That really emphasizes the alcohol.

Me too. And the Petite.

That’s right my brutha! [highfive.gif]

That looks a lot like Rod Berglund to me [wow.gif]

Unfortunately, they can’t legally sample it at their open house.

oops, sorry. I was responding to Dehlinger’s recommendation rather than yours.

But I really prefer brandies from a much smaller glass - Riedels cognac glass is about right.

I ordered one and wish listed one. The perfect second-harvest story sold me, and then some. Will try to remember to report back upon consumption.
