Decant Advice - 2004 Grange

Any advice is much appreciated. Not for me but a friend of mine. I know it’s too young still but it’s not me opening it. I’ll just drink it…
Thanks! [cheers.gif]

wow…insanity.
I had a 1998 recently that was no where near ready…
But, as you said, not your bottle…I would decant for sediment and then check in on it every 20-30 minutes…I am not a fan of marathon decanting, whether it be slow-O or traditional.

Double decant and then audouze for 3 to 5 hrs - will be surprisingly approachable.

Agree with Kent,

This is a seriously good wine, but it can be drunk now…

Kent and Paul,
Did not think so but you must be right as you probably had more exposure to this than me. I only had this once on release.

I am not normally a Grange person although I purchased three bottles of the 2004 Grange as it was my sons birth year and partly because I had done so previously with my daughter with 1996. Again, I do not specifically seek out birth year wines; they just happened to be two good vintages and there were good deals offered.

I had this and the '04 Bin 60a not long after they were released, and thought they were far more accessible than pretty much anything similar from Penfolds I have had in a long time…(BTW, the 60a is even better than the Grange IMHO).

Cool. will do.

Thanks everyone!
