Schott-Zwiesel over Riedel for sure. Designs are at least as nice, more durable, and dishwasher-safe. Also they won’t give you lead poisoning, so they’ve got that going for them, which is nice.
I like Schott Zwiesel over Riedel also, but my favorite is Spieglau - the most durable, and I like the shape of the Bordeaux/Red glass (the one I use 80% of the time) the best.
I, too, like the 22 oz. Bordeaux shape as an all around red glass.
I have a mix of Spiegelau, Oberglass and S-Z’s and am equally happy with them all, and have found them very durable, even though I run them through the dishwasher. I don’t have any Riedels in that size and shape, so I can’t compare them.
Actually, I was incorrect - S-Z is the one I like, the Forte line, in particular. They are my favorite glass by a good margin because of shape and durability.
Well, I just submitted an offer of $18 for the 6 burg glasses in your link. Will let you know if it goes through. Beverage Factory has these listed “on sale” for $53.95 for a set of six.
I am a HUGE fan of SZ glasses. I got tired of my Reidels always breaking and tried the SZ titanium forte series after reading about it on the other board. Almost 2 years later, I have ZERO broken glasses, which is unreal considering we use them so often.
Buyer beware. Yesterday he showed 99 sets of Pure Bordeaux glasses. I made on offer on 15 sets of them and magically they are no longer in stock. Not so reliable.
No other recent buyer was successful, so what happened to 594 glasses???
(My bid for the flutes did get immediately accepted at $25 for full disclosure.)
I’m modestly satisfied at this point. Great deal on the flutes, but to tease about the others is very annoying.
He must know not to cross you or he’ll encounter the wrath of Charlie. I would go for some of the vinum burgs, but have gotten so used to the Zwiesel’s that i had one in my hand last weekend and it just felt weird.
I contacted the seller last night regarding the early terminated claret burg glasses and I was informed they are going out of business and none were left.
