De Negoce offer (Part 2)

$140-160 seems to be the new $99-129. (assuming + $19 shipping is included when in the past it was added)…this seems to be the new normal for the “cheep dN wine. I’m not saying it’s not fair based on inflation, just noting. This this feels like the type of offer that would have been $99 plus $19 shipping in the past…

I think we will look back on the 2018-21 dN offers very fondly for QPR. In the last couple of weeks I’ve have 68, 230, 244 and 251 ( not all myself. they’ve been shared since we have hosted some good Group dinners recently). … None disappoint at all. They are all predictable and delicious and all of them were $99 -139 (Including shipping).

So Luke…you ignored the hidden “Serve Before Tuesday” on those lots? Well Done. And I agree, that with some inflation, relocation fees included (on cases) that prices have a new normal from past days.
C’est la vie.

Cheers, Tim

Hmmm 469…my initial guess was Ram’s Gate, as Joe’s moving a number of wines through flash sites. Price works, but not the “underground storage” portion. Perhaps Etude or Cuvaison?

Wow, ok…I guess I waited too long - 493 is sold out.

25% off last call wines sale today. Is Lot 472 Atlas Peak Cab one of the confirmed Martin Ray shiners?

Sounds delish and the write up is different from the other shiners.

Alpha Omega was the original guess, they have a prop red from Atlas Peak. Most of the description lined up. Anyone open one?

I opened a 472 right after i received it. Very young, needs more time in the bottle. The second day it opened up and really started come around. Its a well made juice and i cant wait to see where it is in a year or so.

Cork is non-branded - just a blank.

I thought it was good - nice big mountain wine - on day 1 but missing something in the midpalate. Rounded out really nicely on day 3 - I’m happy to have my case but am going to tuck it away for a couple years.

Aaaand it’s a moot point bc it sold out.

Ok, how about lot 459? Anyone?

John,
I purchased a case of 459 for $26/btl delivered. Historic house eastside of Silverado and “Proprietary Red” makes me think Insignia - but I kinda doubt that. But is it “worthy”? Hope so. I’ve got plenty of 18’s, 19’s deNegoce Cabs waiting behind this 2022 vintage. Needs years in bottle.

Cheers, Tim

Non-De Negoce question. There is a mystery Harbison Vineyard Cabernet currently available online for $75. It is branded, not bulk like dN (that I can tell).

To my knowledge, I can only fine two producers that make a Cabernet from this vineyard; Bevan and Harbison Estate, both very highly rated.

Does anyone know of any other producers that make wine from this vineyard in Oakville?

Yes, I do. And you could too just by checking cellartracker.

(though you didn’t ask for winery names, I will tell you what you meant to ask which is that AXR, Adversity, and The Debate have all put it on a label in either 2020/2021/2022)

I bought a single bottle of 459 in a recent bottle shop sale. Popped it open to see if I wanted more.

It’s way way too young, but you can see rough outlines of where it’s going — it’s “pretty” with elegant brighter red fruit and a translucent ruby core. I’m reminded of the brighter fruit and color of 253 and 255 (though much less tannic). 14% abv - a wine of finesse not power.

My preferred style is a big bruiser wine like 200 or 429 so I won’t reload here, but if you like your cabs on the prettier side of the spectrum you’ll be a happy camper!

Care to share where?

Given that Wine Spies had the 2020 Adversity Catastrophe for $75 a few weeks ago, I’m going to guess that this wine is the 2020 Adversity Harbison Vineyard Cab as I believe that those two wines were the ONLY wines that Russel Bevan put to label from the 2020 vintage.

PS - I’ve often wondered if Wine Spies and Wine Slash are the same company as wines that are offered for sale on Wine Spies end up on the Wine Slash site shortly thereafter. Not all the time, but often enough.

I actually find the #200 to be a very elegant, structured wine, not a big bruiser style at all…
