De Negoce offer (Part 1)

Matthew - your early boosterism helped me convince myself that my purchase volumes were not that far out of line so I glad I can return the favor now. I hope that you enjoy it as much as we did.

I am somewhat tempted, but I just ordered a case of the Valtellina and really don’t need more wine, especially Cab.

I have been on a self imposed moratorium for a little while, but the BOGO 50% chardonnay offer got me.

The Lot 167 Chardonnay has been an real favorite for me, amidst a group of strong performing dN chards across the board. Today’s offer is getting me 24 more bottles at $12.46, including tax and delivery, well below the Tranche One price.

As a reminder, this is one where we think the board nailed the source: 2019 Tether Chardonnay, which has received a 92 Pt score from Jeb Dunnuck. Jeb: “pure, elegant, yet still powerful, medium to full-bodied style that carries lots of stone fruits, honeyed citrus, papaya, and toasted bread-like aromas and flavors. It has a tropical edge as well as wonderful purity, a clean, elegant texture, and a great finish.”

Highly recommended.

I agree completely with the above. Very nice wine if you are into lightly oaked, malo, chards.

Adding another two cases on long term hold for me! Will need to release one after vacation next week. Do I have to release the cases I ordered or mix and match from all that is on long term hold?

Anyone tried 207?

Yes. It is supposed to be the same wine just different vintage than #77 (which is excellent). To me it was an acidic oaky mess. Give it time to see which way it will go. I liked #77 much more when it was a baby than #207.
I’m not a good taster but to me it feels like #207 has all the construction blocks of a nice wine, but they are at least for now in the wrong order.
I’ve got a case, looking forward to following up.

Appreciate this! I loved both 128 and 77, but will avoid this one.

My notes are that 128 & 207 are the same wine, same vintage (77 was the previous year, right?), but 207 was bottled later (maybe because Cam acquired it a bit later.)

How come the future ship dates page stopped updating? It has been almost 3 weeks since last update.

[update] Mickey got back to me tonight!

Is anyone else having a hard time getting a reply from the support email?

I’ve usually gotten responses from Mickey without problems, until last month. I’ve emailed 7/21, 8/7, 8/10, and 8/11. I even sent the last email from a different email account. I know Cam said “check your junk folders”…plenty of spam in there, zero emails from support.

Off topic a little but I was at Trader Joe’s and the had a TJ reserve 2020 Napa valley merlot ( cannot recall the lot number). I was curious if I could pick out smoke. So I bought for $10. Was not great but drinkable. I would not have been able to pick up “smoke” as the reason it was below average. Came back to it 4 hours later and don’t know if it was just what I was snacking on at the time but it actually tasted worse after 4 hour decant. For the science I did not pour it out and will sample tomorrow just to see if I could pick up smoke.

For reference had 2018 merlot lot 86 last night (last bottle from 4 I got at bottle shop last yr) which was very pleasant wine.

I support cam not doing 2020 Cali reds based on my single ndi experience (and I grant you it’s TJ)

@ de Negoce/Cameron Hughes - When can we expect you to upload more tasting videos onto youtube? I very much enjoyed watching the Walla Walla /Red Mountain Bordeaux tasting along with the Alexander Valley Rose of Sangiovese. I’m pretty sure the majority of people here would agree.
