Mark and I were blown away by these in Paris and we tasted hundreds of Bordeaux wines. Rich, powerful style but never over the top - extremely well-built from some very special terroir. I just can’t say much about it because I am working super-lean on these and the producer doesn’t want to piss off the importers handling the brand.
Another shout out to mickey for above and beyond de Négoce customer service!
She who drinks Chardonnay has been going through it, so I re-upped for the Rutz ‘second case half off’ offer this week but we are leaving town next week and it hadn’t shipped yet. I asked mickey if the shipment could be held til we got back, and very promptly it was!
Earlier this month, he fixed my multiple screwups ordering some cases of whites. (Wait, was that Pinot blanc or Sauvignon blanc?? ) with a sunny attitude.
Agree. Mickey is great and has helped me on numerous occasions. He is one of the reasons why I am confident de Negoce will make things right if there is ever a mistake or error. I don’t have that level of confidence in some of the other internet wine retailers who I will not name.
I can’t speak to what folks might be bottling out of 2020 but everything bordelaise on the “bulk” market has smoke or ash on it. I haven’t seen a single bordelaise red that doesn’t. To boot, folks are asking astronomical prices for wines that are smoke-tainted. Bizarre.
Having said that, there isn’t a lot available on the CA/OR/WA bulk market either way.
We are beginning to look at 2021 chard and pinots to offer but nothing compelling so far and prices are through the roof. We’ll see but I think folks are hanging onto anything good right now.
In the meantime, we have a large portfolio of world-class wines coming from around the globe so that will be our focus for the near future. I have the pipeline fairly full but we’ve been working on logistics before offering them to the list. We have made offers in the past with timelines that proved to be way off so we want to have a better idea of arrival times prior to offering.
I should add that today Two-Year Anniversary sale is chock full of fantastic wines at near futures pricing so why not take advantage of that
Cameron, with the temporary shift in focus to international wines, and back to my pet peeve of bottle size/shape, can we assume those will be bottled in a different more stackable glass? We know that some of the EU regions mandate bottling within the region to maintain the status, or even a bottle style like the engraved Muscadet Sur Lie.
Also, with yesterday’s Bordeaux I wasn’t offered the option for LTS, which I think will be necessary with the arrival date. Was that intentional or a glitch to solve with Mickey?

I wonder with prices rising and wildfires in the west not going away in the foreseeable future your old business model is stuck in neutral? As someone who has bought about thirty cases from you and been a very happy camper I would be disappointed if the west coast ride is over.I’m really not interested in European futures…keep up the good work
