Bought this on a whim at the local, well because I don’t think I’ve ever had a still red Pinot Meunier. I really wasn’t expecting much but I have to say it over delivered.
Translucent visual and great Crunchy fresh cherry initially. Slightest hint of green on the nose, but herbs and a bit of dirt distract that focus, yet very clean. Really fine texture for a rather light bodied wine. Refreshing acids here. I quite liked this.
Is anybody else making a worthy version of this grape in a similar style?
I wonder what the story is behind creating this little wine as well?
The german word for Pinot Meunier is Schwarzriesling. Though its french name becomes popular on german wine labels, it is still more often referred to as Schwarzriesling. Unfortunately I cannot recommend a particular producer or wine.
