For the last few days (perhaps since my update to Firefox 115.14.0esr) in the early evening HK time (i.e. around 12:00 GMT) the WB site has failed for a period of time (maybe 15-30 minutes, I haven’t checked rigorously) with the following error:

I have my Firefox set to fairly tight security with the requirement to “Query OCSP responder servers to confirm the current validity of certificates”.
Any ideas?
Maybe some sort of virus ? Maybe anti-virus software would help ?
It’s just a Firefox issue?
Does it happen with Edge, Chrome, or Safari?
I’ve no idea. Firefox is my browser of choice; that’s unlikely to change just to accommodate one broken website for an hour a day.
Okay…
I didn’t ask you to change your browser. I was trying to help
Sorry I didn’t see this until now, but we do know that is a long standing issue with Firefox, but it occurs for 15 minutes once every three months when the SSL certificate is renewed. Looks like the answer is there already since you explicitly mentioned that you changed the setting…let’s hope that fixes it going forward as well
Thanks for the follow-up. It’s not a huge deal, and it does seem like Firefox has a problem sometimes handling OCSPs. I can see setting changes to avoid it, albeit with some minor more or less negligible security downside, so I know how to avoid it if it becomes irritating again.
Firefox is basically all but abandoned now, you know that, right?
You mean most people aren’t worried about privacy and security? Yes I realised that long ago. That’s their choice.

Lol I didn’t, I prefer it over Chrome (use Chrome mainly for development work, Firefox for daily browsing).
Anyways, I encountered the problem now for the first time. Good to know if it’s just a problem related to certificate renewal and nothing worse. I set the OCSP stapling to false in Firefox to be able to come and see if there is anything here about the problem.
