Yeah, a better price for a much better vintage.
Thanks for the champagne tips.

They say they look inside.
And you couldn’t check a bag of wine? That’s one of the strangest things I’ve heard but w/e
Thanks Rodrigo.
But they should have a much bigger range of affordable Loire wines. Weird to have only the sweeter Huet’s for expample. Hardly any Muscadets. Always easier when there is Peppiere Clos des Briords on the list.
Spend a bit more for the 2020 Chateau des Quarts “Quarts” Pouilly Fuisse. You won’t be sorry, it is great.
One of those recent notes is mine. It really is a fabulous wine.
could you purchase a bottle on the way or pick up a prepurchased order. near by wine stores Pasanella and Corkery are walking distances.
Hi Barry,
for whites, I would consider:
Jérôme Bretaudeau ‘Gabbro - Clos des Bouquinardières’ 2020
Anne Boisson ‘Les Clous Perrons’ 2021
for a red, it is just over $200, but the Domaine Forey 2021 is really good. Regis Forey declassified all of his Les St-Georges from '21 into this Village Nuits and it over-delivers.
cheers
Jeremy
Some of those Bourgogne Blancs (like the Pillot would be good). But overall, yes, this list is hard to swallow.
I will say that I loved this restaurant the few times I’ve been. Gorgeous room, great service, pristine though not adventurous food. But I’ve always BYO’d.
I’d give the 2014 Becker a shot. For the BB I’d go with 2020.
I forget where in NYC the wouldn’t let me check a wine bag, maybe a show at the Armory, but it was a real pain, had to go back to the hotel.
Thanks Jeremey. I couldn’t find anythng on the Bretaudeau, so knowing you’ve had it and liked it helps!
I wish I could drop the wine off earlier in the day. I’ll give them a call.
Hi Barry,
a good mate of mine brings these into Australia and they are excellent. Here’s his note on the 2020:
This Muscadet “GABBRO” is from gabbro (another type of igneous rock) soils and old vines planted around the village of Gorges - to me the Puligny of Muscadet; extra time on lees and in bottle has produced a very fine, very mineral wine; tight as a drum yet very silken and sensual, it tastes of flint and stone and is very inspired drinking. This is one of the very great Muscadet’s available today displaying Grand Cru like intensity, balance and complexity. Just superb
cheers
Jeremy
Thanks all!
Lot’s of great white wine options under $120!
Turns out they are happy to have me come over on my way to Brooklyn to drop off the bottles - which means I can start with champagne!
Cheers
Barry
depending on the quantity buy, the Rijckaert is a $30-40 retail bottle.
Hi all, while not entirely relevant to the wine list, it will certainly be relevant to the experience. The chef of Crown Shy, James Kent, passed away over the weekend / unexpectedly from a heart attack at the age of 45. I anticipate you will still have a lovely visit - its a wonderful restaurant - but I imagine it might feel a little different at time of your visit. Something to simply be aware of / sensitive to and so on. Enjoy, though, please. And raise a glass of whatever you order to him.
I’d probably do the Envinate if old world is the requirement.
If anything off the list I’d take a flyer on the Ochota Barrels Slint… just because how they seem to be revered by the Aussies and how rarely you see them in the US.
re james kent passing, this was mentioned upthread a bit
Totally - my error. It got swallowed.
