I much prefer lighter (not Michelob Ultra people but say Peroni, Sam Adams Light, Stella Artois, etc.) to darker or fuller-bodied beer and am looking to try something “new.”
I’m also averse to super hoppy beers fwiw.
Any reccos?

Have you tried Boont Amber Ale? I think that might be pushing your limits but you do have Sam Adams lite listed.
This is darker (reddish actually) in color but the most refreshing beer I know of:

If you can pronounce it, you can drink it! ![]()

How many of you does it take to open a beer bottle? ![]()
Seriously though, have you tried Presidente?

Ice cold…trust me on this one.
Are you serious? ![]()
Peter, why don’t you just go to Marty’s and give Mr. Tryba your paycheck, he will set you up for the summer. ![]()
A couple of basic go-tos for lighter beers under the sun:
Hoegaarden
Czechvar (sp?)
Brooklyn Pilsner
Check out the wheat beer thread for some options there.
This has become my new favorite beer as of late. It is fantastic!
Delirium is fantastic but is about as refreshing as Mollydooker, no? Plus…it’s STRONG, not really a pounder.
All great suggestions, except for the DTs!
Never tried Presidente, is that readily available? Czechvar is great stuff, I don’t think even Marty’s carries that though (Tryba?)
I had Tusker from Kenya at Bukowski’s in Boston last Friday, wish I could get 6ers of that here!
i realize completely off topic, but a well made Americano - campari, sweet vermouth, soda on the rocks - is about the most refreshing summer drink that exists. Drink it in a highball glass with generous soda.
sierra nevada summerfest and glissade
by the 24 pack at costco for $20ish
Probably in EVERY corner bodega in the greater Bahstan area.
Also delicious, creamy and refreshing with a little more body and malt:

I would stay away from any beer made in South America or any of the tropical islands - they are good ice cold so you don’t have to taste the “nothingness” that they bring you -
Stick to the great Pilsners and Lagers made in Poland, Czechoslovakia, Bavaria, Austria etc - great water sources - very unique taste profiles - the harder the brewery’s name is to pronounce - the better the beer -
I’ve yet to have an American Pilsner than could compare to even the mass produced beers coming out of those European regions - This Country’s pilsners are just too heavy and over-hopped -
Have you tried Leffe? It is an ale but FULL of flavor!
Keep em coming!
I’ve tried Bellhaven and like it - still prefer a lighter body though.
Believe it or not, I tried a Grolsch for the first time last night and it was solid - though I’m not going to be rushing to buy it.,
I agree that it may not be the most refreshing but I don’t mind the 9% as it doesn’t overwhelm at all. If you are looking for one that you can have a lot of I like this a lot.
My recommendation would be the Great Divde Colette - farmhouse saison. Very refreshing with a bit of crisp to go along with it. From CO, so not sure if you can get it locally.
I’d throw in a ton of wheat beers that would satisfy the “refreshing” part, though wheat beers aren’t really “crisp”.
This beer hits the spot on a hot summer day!
