I was introduced to the 2019 of this by a friend and fell in love. I’m ready for more. Is it consistent from year to year? I see 2021 and 2022 currently available. Is one obviously better than the other? Yes, I know, a Berserker would buy both…

It depends (like all things in wine) on your taste. Some people prefer the fresh, lively character of 2021 (which has been characterized as more classic). I personally prefer the effusive fruit and sap of 2022 in general. The good producers (such as Clos de la Roilette) created wines of great depth of flavor but also balance. Both are good vintages.

This wine is banging. The 2019 is insanely good. I love 2021 it’s quite classic with some green notes that may not ap-peal to everyone - see what I did there. I love 2021. I bought 2020 and 2018 but those are very ripe vintages so keep that in mind. Just buy this wine every single year and drink it. You can thank me later.
What about 2022?
I actually have not tried it yet, need to remedy that. Had another 2021 last week, I’m going through them like hot cakes.

Tried first 2022 Griffe du Marquis. Super structured and 14%…but still has a tiny bit of that greenness from 2021. The fruit is big and dark, great acidity and minerality.
Feels a bit too much right now, a lot of sharp edges even with the oak regimen. Definitely needs a few years. I don’t usually even think to open Cuvee Tardive without at least 5 years bottle age…took a flyer on this one with so many notes about 2021 drinking well young, but for my palate the 2022 needs time.
Since you asked about consistency, I think you can see from the comments that there definitely is vintage variation.
The 2016 last year was still pretty backward – brooding – but had great depth. I wish I had another bottle to try in five years.
The 2015 earlier this year was pretty ripe, and a bit less precise, but still yummy. I think that had many years ahead of it, too.
