I haven’t received an email from Copain yet, but I checked Copain’s web site today (what can I say, I’m a glutton for punishment and it’s mail order season) and found my allocation. I definitely intend to buy. The offer includes:
Agree with Cris on the Eaglepoint and Wentzel. Curious if anyone has tried the Baker.
I might just end up 2x3 this time around. Already have too much wine and Copain with all of these releases in 3 packs only do not make it easier. As much as I love the wine.
Baker is new. I think I’ll order at least one 3-pack of each, but I am considering ordering more of the pinot, if for no other reason than to contradict Parker and his aversion to balanced, elegant, low-alcohol, food friendly pinot.
Man this is really starting to hurt. Eaglepoint syrah for sure, but I don’t know if I can do anything else. Just checked cellartracker and I have 128 bottles of cali pinot… how much do I really need?
Actually, this is a video mailer. I have not been able to view them all yet from the offer but so far, I like the concept of actually video dispalying the wine with Wells offering perspective on what’s in the bottle, the vineyard, etc. I have more to view in the release but it’s a very unique concept. Being the Copain fool that I am, I’m buying, much as I have the past 5 years.
Dinner a couple of weeks ago really opened my eyes to Copain. Two of my favorite wines that night were the Copains.
I am probably going in on a case with two other people so we all can get one bottle of each for an assortment to try a bit more, then decide future purchases from that.
i thought the video mailer was really unique and quite informative. wells did a great job talking about his wines, but the person tasting along with him (the tasting room manager) came across as nothing more than a prop.
When I made the original post, I didn’t even have the mailer. I received it yesterday, though, and I spent some time looking at the video clips. I also found them valuable and interesting. Listening to Wells explain his winemaking choices reinforces my belief that the 2007s will be great.
