Cookies and salami?

At the concert last night, we were rifling through the piles of food that each of us had brought. One guy pointed at his bag and said that the cookies were on top, and the salami below. This comment then led to a discussion about which cookies would best pair with salami (yes, we had been drinking just a wee bit). The discussion was inconclusive…

So just on the off chance anyone here has ever thought about this issue, if you had to pair cookies and salami, what kind of cookies would you pick?

My obvious first choice would be shortbread, since they are not very sweet, but if the salami was super salty, maybe something like oatmeal raisin might not be too disgusting, the raisin sweetness perhaps helping to cut the saltiness. Hmmm…
