A little break after two great Champagnes and some starters. Both these wines are everything one could ask for! On the palate both have great fruit, the Dom more apple and pear, while Cristal is more citrus and tart apple. Both have some floral aromas and the Dom has a bit more of a wheat bread note. There is significantly more structure concentration and acidity shown by the Cristal while the Dom, today, is more elegant and silky. Both have long finishes, the Cristal the better of the two.
I really liked both but the Cristal was my favorite. I can’t argue with the opinions that that the Dom was an easier drinking bottle today, but the Cristal seems to have a much higher upside. FWIW?

When I had the 12 Cristal it tasted like a sour lemon bomb. Haven’t had the 12 Dom yet, plan on holding the remaining 12 cristal for another 15 years plus
I liked the 12 Dom a lot more than 12 Cristal. I liked it a lot more than the 13 Cristal I had last night too. Probably would rate it similar to 09 Cristal and just a step behind 08.
