Clef du Vin--Gimmick or Useful Tool?

I was at a wine tasting the other night and someone had a Clef du Vin and extolled it for tasting young wines to get an idea of what their future holds. I had tasted a lot at that point and well on the way to palate fatigue but my quick impression that it softened the wine. Curious on anyone’s experience?

It only works if you’re wearing a matching copper bracelet - aging is a zero sum game. If you want your wine to be 10 years older, your back has to feel 10 years younger!

Anyone find the patent#?

Very useful tool… for extracting $$ from gullible wine lovers.

think you must have this;

Gotta love these devices. A couple of P.T. Barnum specials.

Apparently, the Clef du Vin “Determines the ideal length of time to cellar wines” and “Lets you manage your wine cellar like you have a crystal ball.” Wow, imagine the possibilities!

Want to know how a wine will age? Drop it in a blender whilst young.

Decluttering earlier and found one of these in a box earlier this evening, was a gift I forgot about, probably inventionally.

But… Now that I found it, I get to experiment, like aging a supermarket wine 100 years to see what the future holds. Or age balsamic. Has the second life of itching morbid curiosity and offering a laugh I guess.
