Cioppino in San Francisco

Heading back to SF next month and we want to find the best place for Cioppino. Anyone doing something amazing?

I’m a big fan of Anchor Oyster Bar’s! I tend to only have it there, so can’t compare to other offerings.

I’ll second Anchor Oyster Bar’s.

sotto mare is the classic that is probably most recommended.

But I would put Scoma’s up there, probably the only decent restaurant in fisherman’s wharf.
Tadich grill is also worth a mention because of it’s history and vibes.

So really, pick between anchor, sotto mare, scoma based on the neighborhood youd rather be in, or tadich if you are looking for a reason to try tadich.

This is the way.

Personally, I feel Anchor goes heavy on the oregano, but that’s just me. It’s still pretty good, but I prefer Sotto Mare.

Anchor is great, but doesn’t take reservations. Zazie, or Gallinette (ultra casual, by the beach) offer some nice French spins on this dish.

+1 on Scoma’s. We visited the Fisherman’s wharf location but also heard good things about their location in Sausalito.
