I’ll be dining there in two weeks for the first time. They have an extensive Italian wine list. I’m looking at the Chianti Classicos and Abruzzo. Maybe Sicily. Anyone have recommendations?
They offer reasonable wine corkage.
I might be tempted by the 2002 Robert Ampeau Volnay Santenots for $208. Wrong theme though.
For me, perhaps the Ar.Pe.Pe. Grumello, or the Altesino BdM?
2 very nice Barolo options that while young seem to be drinking pretty well. I tasted at F. Alessandria in 2022 and the Monvigliero is a beautiful wine. The Trediberri Rocche is supposed to their best wine yet per AG and some other tasters…
2019 Trediberri Barolo Rocche dell Annuz
2018 Fratelli Alessandria Barolo Monvigliero
The 2019 and 2020 I Fabbri Chiantis from Lamole are inexpensive and delicious wines, subtle and elegant, easy to drink and pair with food. Istine Chianti Classico has a little more stuffing, won’t break the bank. The Lorenzo di Monaco Rosso di Todi is in a similar vein but even bigger scaled, though by no means exaggerated. It is also Sangiovese.
From Sicily the Romeo del Castello Allegracore 2015 is an interesting option. About as mature as I would want, but a fun wine, again well priced. The 2010 is too old for my palate.
In general I think the pricing here steers one toward these value plays. They are not as impressive as the more expensive options, but in the rushed setting of a busy restaurant I don’t really want wines that need preparation and attention.
If a “fancier” wine is the order of the day I would look at Alessandria’s Barolo di Verduno 2019. Price is not outrageous and the wine is terrific. The San Lorenzo is even better, and only a little more expensive.
Anything from Tiberio, during the summer I believe they had Trebbiano and Montepulciano BTG.
We bring our own. $35 corkage.
Wow, thanks everyone for the great suggestions. I’ve got some thinking to do.
You should definitely get the Guilbert Gillet. Pretty rare wine. Also be sure to pay using inKind
this is the way.
David, thanks. Coincidentally, I just signed up for inKind. Are you suggesting because of the discount or some other reason? I see Ci Siamo is on the inKind list.

Yea, it’s just a free 20%+ off
Thanks. I wasn’t thinking of a Burgundy, but the Gilbert Gillet is intriguing.

they comped our corkage because we shared and geeked out with the sommelier. very nice guy. all of the staff were nice. food was great. just very very sterile and not the nyc i love.
I don’t know the particular wines, but I know Greg’s palate. I’d go with his recommendations, as I have done many times before.
Food recs -
Squash is great.
Beans are good but a bit strongly flavored and big portion…if you are going with a bunch of people worth splitting.
Cavatelli with crab is fantastic.
Chicken is worth ordering, despite being chicken.
And definitely go with the GG burg …of the two lower priced ones I thought the CDNV is more open right now.
CNDV was great
