Churro Lamb Chops, Asparagus, and Zinfandel

Last night’s dinner was Churro loin lamb chops, seasoned with garlic and SI Rosemary Pepper, and pan-grilled (they were too thin to do on the Weber) in a little Meyer Lemon olive oil, and finished with Tuscan EVOO and mint. Veggie was asparagus, steamed and finished with garlic, black pepper, coarse sea salt, and Tuscan EVOO.

Wine was an interesting 1997 Karly Amador County Zinfandel ‘Sadie Upton’ - dark garnet in color with a narrow orange edge; rich overripe berry and currant jammy fruit in nose and flavors, no acidity; and a slighly dry tannic finish without food, lessening with the rich lamb, Interestingly, the last time we had this six or seven years ago, it was still a tannic monster. Even without any sense of acidity, the rich jammy fruit was tasty with the lamb.

Seriously…for x-mas/chanukah/kwanzaa, whatever, let’s buy Dick a camera!!!

Better yet…he can have US over and we’ll take the pics and post 'em.

Yeah, Bill, when are you coming to visit. Nostrani’s Wine Geeks is tonight.
