Chimney Rock Tasting/visit

Has anyone done the private or reserve tasting? Considering it but wanted to hear everyone’s thoughts. Are there barrel samples? Any chance of having Elizabeth Vianna host the tasting?

THANKS!!

A few years ago stopped in and did a tasting. After talking a bit he started pouring a lot more than what was on the list. Really enjoyed the wines and the visit. Worth the time…

We were there 2 years ago for a private sit down tasting in the main/grand room. It was 4 of us in this huge room surrounded by wine barrels. The hostess was great and the wine was even better. It was one of our best stops during the trip. No barrel tasting but we spent some time in the vineyard. Side note: this tasting experience was better than Shafer. Yes I said it and it was!

Is an appointment required? Was thinking about stopping in if I had time between other appointments in the area.

Their site says reservations, but each time we’ve gone we’ve just walked in. We are members at a sister winery, but I don’t think that’s why they took us.

I did the reserve tasting 3 years ago and liked it quite a lot. The host was quite nice and as others have mentioned as we got talking more they started pulling out other bottles not on the list. No tour or barrel tasting but it is a very nice place and a good vibe. Their wines are always consistently good in my opinion. They were a little pushy to get me to buy more wine but I only bought some library wines since in PA Chimney Rock is quite cheap relative to other places.

Usually my first stop when I get to Napa. Mostly cause I am on the Silverado Trail when coming in, very enjoyable and worth the stop.

Done Chimney Rock standard tasting twice. Enjoyed it both times ad the people are friendly but more business like. Not in a bad way. Have not done a private tasting though.
