Chicken, Orzo, and Lemon Soup with Salame Rolls and Zinfandel

Last night’s light supper was Progresso chicken, orzo, and lemon soup with added chicken stock and fresh lemon peel. Accompanying the soup was spicy salame & buffalo cheese and mozzarella rolls on crackers. Wine was another 1999 Sobon Estate Signature Select Program Fiddletown Zinfandel - cork saturated just over half way, dark ruby-garnet in color; good, ripe, dark berry fruit with adequate acidity and resolved tannins, with a medium long complex ripe berry fruit finish. It was very good with soup and rolls.

Then for dessert we had brie and aged manchego cheese with raisins and mixed nuts, with a 1999 Ridge Buchignani Ranch Zindandel - cork barely colored, good dark ruby in color; rich complex dark berry fruit with good acidity and mostly resolved tannins; with a long complex dark berry fruit. It was very good with the cheese, nuts, and raisins.
