This is worth watching.

Tried to get in. No luck. Not a huge fan of Next but had some amazing meals/experiences in that building and would love to go back.

Got one more night of being on Notify

I was thinking the same thing. I had a friend from law school who knew Charlie from Boston and was invited to a couple of his preview dinners which I attended and was knocked off my seat. Probably had an additional 8-10 meals there over the years and worked the kitchen line 2 times as the winner of charity auctions my wife bought for me. I really enjoyed Charlie, but have a hard time imagining what the restaurant would be without him

You enjoyed Charlie? I worked the kitchen also. With all do respect he was a dick.

George

Not to me. He was focused on getting me off the line and feeding me. He wasn’t so nice to his workers, though. It may have helped that I was a friend of a friend

HS senior Charlie was a really good gymnast :person_cartwheeling:
I was a freshman trying out for the team and saw him in the gym. He was intense and pretty much a talented jerk.

My (now) wife went to his restaurant in Chicago and didn’t have a good meal and wrote about it to the restaurant. Charlie personally invited her back and she ended up having an amazing meal

Next at Trotters just extended and posted dates

Tre Dita in the new St. Regis Hotel and Residences is fantastic

As is Miru

That receipt… they just assume an installment plan is required at the restaurant!? :joy:

All kidding aside, glad to hear it performed. Haven’t tried it out yet but have heard good things.

well when you have one very successful fun guy who is a DINK ordering LOL
all I did was select a reasonable couple of wines

The Bistecca price is obscene. Add tax, tip and surcharge and it’s $400

I read that as “Three Ditkas.”

Prince Street Pizza just opened in West Loop.

Was just at the orignal in NYC. Have been at least 30x over the years. Disappointing the last 2x. Curious how it will play out in Chicago

Oakville grill and cellar. Clearly a Napa reference serves its red wines by the glass at 39F.
And I’m the one that got the weird looks. More so than normal of course

They claim it’s closer to 50. Still too cold

Went to Atelier this past weekend. I’d been before, shortly after they opened in the old Elizabeth space. They were temporarily BYOB then. They now have a wine list and wine pairings. Nothing on the list looked appealing to me.( I brought a 2002 Krug and a 2007 Ridge Monte Bello - $50/btl corkage). The space is small and the lighting is harsh, but the food was excellent. Our friends nabbed a Saturday night reservation on short notice, which surprised me - they recently received a Michelin star. Maybe dumb luck, or maybe it’s still flying under the radar up here in Lincoln Square.

Just did the Trotter dinner. I’m bloated. Of course this destroyed Dryuary and my diet.

Miss them both

She used to have a small bakery near me on Broadway that I loved. Where else could you get pig blood bread?
