Chicago and suburbs

I’ll update the list.

Obelisk has corkage for $75/bottle. We brought a magnum, but they told us the corkage is a flat rate, regardless of size. Stems are fine, but nothing special.

Stems better be freaking outstanding for that kind of corkage.

Or let you take the stems home :joy:

Two pizza joints in my neighborhood, both specializing in Neapolitan pizza, BYOB, no fee:
Strapoli Pizzeria and All Day Cafe

Stemless glasses, street side patio

Naudi Signature Pizza
926 W Diversey Pkwy, Chicago, IL 60614

Mixed stems, back patio

What is the corkage at each? Which has better pizza?

I updated my post to state there is no corkage.

I would say Strapoli, but the pizzas are more personal sized. Strapoli is open and bright, where by Naudi is more cozy.

Got it.

RPM Italian is still only $25?

Just had Craft Pizza over the weekend. Totally agree, great pizza. I’ll get in trouble for saying it, but New York Pizza > Chicago Deep Dish :scream:

My top five…

  1. Spacca Napoli
  2. Coalfire
  3. Craft
  4. Bonci
  5. Dante’s

Not from this transplanted New Yorker you won’t.

And no to “tavern” as well. Reminds me too much of matzah pizza
And they cut it like it’s for a 5 year old’s birthday party

Have you had Reno’s?

Matzah Pizza :joy::nauseated_face: those were the worst two weeks of my childhood…every year. Haven’t thought about that in a while. I’m with you, though.

Not familiar with Reno’s. Need to look into it.

Reno’s…how have I missed this? I live just a few blocks away. I know what I’m trying out next weekend.

If you have to fold your pizza to keep it from falling in your lap when you pick it up, it’s not worth eating.

:joy:

If you have to make sure your pizza doesn’t cause the plate to fold and drop everything in your lap…

If your pizza looks like Quiche or tomato soup in a bread bowl, it probably is one of those

For Chicagoans (gentiles at least), it’s tavern>deep dish. Deep dish is where we take folks like you when you get off the Amtrak.

Anyway Neapolitan is the best overall style.

Tavern can be so hit or miss in Chicago. Half the time it feels like a childhood birthday party. Not a bad memory per se, but the food was never the highlight!
