Chicago and suburbs

Going to see a show at the Metro in November. Any good BYO near Wrigley?

Cozy Noodle. Basic Thai.

Tango Sur on Southport

It’s probably been 10 years since I last went to Tango Sur. My last meal there was terrible, I felt like the quality had dropped significantly. Have you been there lately?

I’ve been going there a minimum of 10-12 years. It’s always been excellent. No issues, other than the itty bitty wine glasses, so I bring my own.

I have not. Jeannine is a vegetarian. I’d probably still choose it over convenient Thai

^this. I was there in early march of 20 in the before times. It was pretty typical Tango Sur and I was more than fine with that.

Tim, Ceres’ Table may charge corkage if you call ahead of time. I did the odd dinner there, but someone else usually took care of logistics.

I second the rec for Ceres Table. They’ve let me bring bottles in, but I’d definitely call.

Dear Margaret is currently BYO, but I can’t say that I’d recommend it. The food was fine, full stop. The tables were a bit closer together than they should be, given the state of the world.

Location of the tables doesn’t bother me at all. Most places are packed, which is great. I’ll see about checking these guys out on Sunday. Thanks for the info.

Oh, how was the glassware?

Verve Wine….check it. Did a private dinner in back room there and was awesome. Zalto glassware, good food, Joao is the man and amazing wine list and nice retail selection

We brought our own, but it looked like their glassware was fine.

In my neighborhood… are they BYO though? I can’t imagine so given they’re a wine store… I guess maybe for wine dinners?

I did a wine dinner there but am not sure if it’s generally BYO. There’s atleast a corkage fee given it is a wine bar and restaurant w retail but maybe just call and ask

Corkage at Bistro Campagne was $20 this July. Stems basic.

Has anyone gone to El Ideas (or other highish end BYO) lately?

I haven’t Corey but need to get back there. I just noticed that they’re still talking about distance guidelines, etc on their website, all of which restaurants have moved on from. I don’t know what to make of that. I also noticed that there’s no comments about the cost of the dinner, the number of courses, etc on the website. Seems pretty strange.

Mostly we’ve been carrying out and eating in the condo. But we did have a nice wine dinner seated outdoors at:

Le Sud

2301 W Roscoe St, Chicago, IL 60618
(773) 857-1985

Service and food were both excellent. Stems were fine. Corkage is $35, which they donate to local charities; which are posted on their website.

Everyone, I’ve cleaned up the list by removing a couple that are no longer around, and changing URLs for websites that have changed. I’ve added Le Sud from Mike’s post above. If anyone has any new information or new places to add, please shoot me a message or add a reply.

Just saw this but, yes, I was at El Ideas last week and was impressed. Definitely will go back. Went to Schwa in April and it was very good as well. Preferred El Ideas just slightly.
