Cheeburger Cheeburger---better than 5 Guys and Shake Shack

Had this one yesterday and I must say it’s so. Not the skinny greasy burger that 5 Guys does and not a mess like Shake Shack. The pattie is of the fatter sort, more like I would make myself and the bun is full shaped and rounded and dense enough to hold all on it. Overall I liked the flavor more. Next time I have been advised to try the onion rings. Anyway, there it is. [cheers.gif] [cheers.gif] [cheers.gif]

They all suck!

I just need to find a good " Potato Bun " Recipe.

Does the" Belushi " family/ SNL hold any of the patent on " Cheeseburger Cheeseburger " ?

Which have you been to?

I’m a Shake Shack addict, and would have wanted to try this. But the website says that the closest one is at Terminal 6 in JFK. Being a food vendor in JFK really doesn’t give much credibility. I’ll give it a shot if ever I decide to fly Jet Blue at T6.

Ramon, 5 Guys is in the Raleigh-Durham NC terminal. Not really good reason to discount them.

Here are some other locations you might have missed:

Great Neck 46 Great Neck Road 516-829-2433 p bfrank@cheeburger.com practically Queens
Queens Forest Hills 108-50 Queens Blvd 718-997-8600 p foresthills@cheeburger.com
Staten Island 2935 Veteran’s Road West 718-984-6565 p statenisland@cheeburger.com
White Plains 84 Mamaroneck Avenue 914-437-7537 p whiteplains@cheeburger.com

All of them. Probably the best I’ve been to is Elevation Burger.

The actual address is 240 Main Street. I’m guessing they wanted to open at the other location.

There is a CheeBurger downtown White Plains. When I checked it out, I thought it was awful vs SS and 5 Guys. When my daughter insisted on going there, I pleaded with her to pick another place. It was a rare day when she said you were right dad. [whistle.gif]
If you’re ever up in White Plains, here’s where to go… http://www.westchesterburger.com/ Now this is a burger worthy of a full-bodied cab or syrah. [wink.gif]

I believe the case was settled out of court, with the chain adding references to Billy Goat Tavern in any new restaurant they opened, and there would be no Cheeburger Cheeburger restaurant within 150 miles of Chicago.

Of the chains - I like me some 5 guys.

Prefer homemade. Local joint called sweet smoke that does bbq, makes one hell of a burger too.

Haven’t been to SS. I like Five Guys, esp for their fries. It is far better than the regular fast food places like MickeyD’s or BK, but the burger doesn’t compare to what I make at home. Do any of these places really compare to a good homemade burger?

Probably the best burger I’ve had in a restaurant was at New World Home Cooking in Woodstock, NY. It might have even been better than mine. Charred on the outside, cool in the middle. But there are lots of other good choices at this place:

One of the things I miss the most about my daughter graduating from Bard College was going to NWHC every time we visited her. Fun place. We celebrated her graduation with 4-5 other families and a boatload of friends at NWHC and had an absolute blast.

Ahh, Bard. “My Old School”.

Best burgers in NYC for me are:
(1) PJ Clarke’s
(2) Donovan’s Pub in Queens
(3) The Burger Joint Le Meridien Hotel

Mike,

I wasn’t generalizing all airport food vendors as bad. Only in JFK. That airport is trumped even by good old Laguardia which has made great strides in adding, among many others, 5 Guys (yes, same one as mentioned above), a Todd English restaurant, a di Fara-affiliated pizza place run by Dom’s son and a French place that’s an offshoot of Balthazar/Minetta Tavern.

I’m burger-crazy, so I’ll still give Cheeburgerx2 a try if I happen to be near any of their locations.

Ken, I grind my own burgers. This burger I had yesterday was about the best I have had outside my home for a long time. Juicy, flavorful, perfectly cooke, which BTW they only state 3 ways of cooking: med, med well, and well, but my burger was a true medium rare. Must be code for the food police. [wow.gif]
I would hate to think I had a one-off experience and all else will suck from there. Most definitely location specific. Be well, my friend.

I had 5 Guys two more times in the past few months. I just don’t get why people like these. No beefy flavor, greasy. It must be the toppings people like. If you like toppings that much then just get a vege burger but stop polluting your beef.

I gotta admit though the first time I had a 5 guys i thought it was good. So maybe they have changed or i was in the perfect head space to love a 5 guys burger

Mine (back in the day):
(1) Walkers
(2) Union Sq Cafe
(3) PJ Clarke’s

None of these are fast food places. Different class.

Yeah, we went off-topic.
