Chateau des Tours Grande Reserve Blanc 2010

I love the red wine portfolio - but have not had that many of the whites from Reynaud

Just purchased some of these at low price (new release after 15y)

Same grapes as Rayas blanc

Wonder if I should purchase some more (before they are not around anymore)

Do you any experience with the Grande Reserve Blanc (2010 or other) ?

Well…if it’s anything even close to the 2010 Rayas…you got yourself a great wine!

2010 Château Rayas Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Réserve - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (4/6/2024)
This was up there with the Vatan as the most intriguing wine to drink. Slight heat at first, but air integrated it nicely to this WAXY pitted orchard fruit of goodness! Wonderful texture…more subtle than power…brightened with lemon squeeze and pineapple cut…apricot marmalade, honey, nice dry salt rock salinity…pretty blossom florals…age has brought out some lovely antique wax and lanolin oil…but plenty freshness and lift…really dug it as it got warmer in the glass. Liked it better than the 10 Rayas Rouge! Blend of 50-50 Clairette and Grenache Blanc. (95 pts.)

2010 Château Rayas Châteauneuf-du-Pape Reserve - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (4/6/2024)
This was decanted all day…darker and more sauvage, showing black cherry and Kirsch liqueur…some high toned blood orange acidity, dusty earth spice…the fruit not as “pretty” red as the 11 we had last month…still VERY intriguing complexities that kept coming with every sip! Wonderful perfume of florals of crushed berries…some white pepper spice, old leather…rhubarb and red licorice dryness…still has a lot of crushed rock and some tobacco…but that damn 2005 we had a few years ago still has me searching for that amazing red fruited elegance and haunting perfume…this 2010 seems more serious, and probably in need of many more years. Still, a true pleasure to drink one when you can! (94 pts.)

wow - nice note, a baby version of the Rayas 2010 blanc would be fantastic.

Since all the issues with premox I do not store or purchase aged white wine, my plans are drinking within 10 years. So a bit worried, but a late release should reduce risk.

My 6bt purchase arrives in 1-2 days, so could wait and do a coravin taste - but will it still be around to purchase more… a true wine dilemma

The importer has this note:
This wine is made from 50% Grenache Blanc and 50% Clairette, which is the same grape composition as Château Rayas Blanc, also owned by the Reynaud family.
Grande Réserve, vinified in steel, and aged in the estate’s cellars for 15 years before release. It is a truly unique wine, complex and elegant, with a long finish of quince and still a youthful freshness.
