Change is bad! (or is it? read on...)

Leave it to a VCU fan :stuck_out_tongue:

It feels like the people at the old site were more friendly.

We’re going to make you guys work for doing this to us.
When you get to my age, you learn to accept change and figure it out. That doesn’t mean it is always fun.

I believe you can change it- preferences-account-flair

Grumble.ok. Grumble

Got it. Fixed.

Laptop version of the get off my lawn looks okay. Mobile version I’m struggling with. No avatars. Doesn’t have any indication of who last posted. I’m sure it’s on me but can’t figure it out and haven’t seen any advice particular to this situation. Anyone else having same issue?

I had to switch the view to desktop version to see who recently posted (I use an IPhone almost exclusively).

I hate it (maybe I will like it in time )-too much going on. I like simple .

You can have DIFFERENT themes on different devices, and the cookie on the browser remembers it! Set them to whichever you like, or set across all devices (like I do) - on your desktop, set what you want. On your tablet, set what you want.

Same setting as on the laptop. Just doesn’t show the same view on phone as on the laptop. Looks the same except with stuff missing. All settings are the same across the 2 devices, just seems to be a different look on the mobile that doesn’t include avatars or who posted last. Probably more.

My definition of ā€œenhanced for easeā€ is clearly different from yours.

I actually do hate it. Sorry. Truly sorry.

It’s an affront to layout principles and color use. It emphasizes buttons and gimmicks instead of the content people have posted. Nothing is at-a-glance like in the old site. In fact there are very few useful visual cues.

I literally have a headache and I’m a little dizzy from trying to read threads. No joke.

I realize most won’t listen, but I have to be honest.

And no, I’m not a curmudgeon. I didn’t join the old site that long ago. I remember my learning-curve (basically zero, super intuitive). Not everything new is better.

I have a headache as well. I thought it was from not being able to figure out a way to easily see unread posts but maybe it is something else.

I’ve been demoted too.

#metoo beat me to it.

I had to figure out my new user name first.

We set up a test forum for weeks. Everyone that complained before trying it, tried it and liked it once they played around with it for a few days.

First impressions are rough. But I strongly believe you’ll enjoy the experience more with time. Visually the UI design is built for less strain on your eyes.

You can also change your themes in settings to look similar to the old board.

It’s not on you. I think you’re being too nice to the laptop version of get off my lawn.

It has no markings to separate individual posts. I dislike the regular version too (as I said in another post) but at least that one has post markings.

Ha I think people on the new site are more friendly and I don’t like it :face_vomiting:

I don’t hate it, it doesn’t yet feel comfortable but I’ll get used to it I’m sure.

Sorry you feel that way, Guillermo…nothing can please everyone, although that would be lovely if true.

Many complained for years about the format of the old site, now we move to a more modern approach and superior software and some won’t like it - if I could keep two separate forums I would, but these are entirely different programming languages, so we did what we could, ran the test site for weeks to get people’s opinions, work through kinks, features, additions, etc to come up with the best option.

Hopefully it’s just the ā€˜newness’ you aren’t accustomed to, and it will become familiar to you soon, as it did for me after about 1 day
