Champagne price increases

I now see there are some dates on the front label. 20 vintage and disgorged in 21?

Now you are getting it. Front label. If tirage is 2020, then I presume it is 2019 base, although not sure if he uses reserve wines or not. Disgorgement appears to be 2021. Middle numerics in the date sequence are the month.

Glad you liked this, and you took the time to go get it and post on it. That is doing the work. :raised_hands:

Just in case anyone here is interested (posted in another thread too): Total wine Laguna hills has 2015 Roederer BdB Starck for $20 less than the best wine-searcher price visible to me

I am glad you enjoyed the champagne. They have a new release Pataphysique from the 2017 vintage. 100% Meunier from Vrigny, well worth seeking out.

I really nice selection of champagne.

Sorry the Remy did not perform for you, His 18s are not representative of what he can do, a lot of the bigger crus were not made and he released more Coteaux’s than champagnes.

Nope!

(Just realised I’d posted in the wrong thread. Should have been the what champagne are you drinking)

Not my first Georges Remy and it’s not just the vintage: I’m generally impressed by the energy and the talent here, but it’s not really my style at all. I’m normally a boring, old-school, granny-style-label guy when it comes to Champagne. I posted that pic showing a couple of labels made by people under 85 years of age just to prove I can hang with 2023

Hey, please post more often in the thread. Your contributions and your personality come through in your posts, and I enjoy them. Don’t be a stranger. :raised_hands:

I know the thread has drifted a bit but I just was buying groceries for soccer and football today and my local “fancy” grocer had 3x each of Maillons and Maillons rose for under $200 per. Which I’ve never seen, and WS supports as a great price. Sadly I only took one and already regret it. May go back tomorrow.

First time tasting Cordeuil, prompted @D_Pennet’s comments on the Cedric Bouchard thread. Yeast, smoke, minerals, lemon, marzipan, and chalk, with hints of reddish fruits from the Pinot. I liked it (as did my son and his wife, who are along for my Champagne ride) and think it will be better after more time in bottle.

Thank you, Frank. Here’s another post in the spirit of universal conciliation, Pierre Larmandier and me a thousand years ago, when there was no longitude or latitude, his entry-level wine was reliable and fairly priced, and his Né d’une Terre (later Terre de Vertus) was one of the most exciting BdB around

(Note: I represent the Champagnes here in Ontario!)

I really love the Guillaume Sergent wines, even before I worked for the agency; I hope that they stay relatively affordable and I’m very excited to try the new Meunier cuvée.

I envy your hair. Would seem now that Arthur has the reigns there? I did meet Sophie on my last visit but my sense is that he is out in front of things. Not sure if that is correct or not. But, I do know that Latitude and Longitude are still great values and banging wines (you’ll forgive me for that last comment, as you and I are good friends now. :star_struck:)

Try the A320/A350!

Donald,
Thanks for all of your posts. A year and a half ago, I posed a question to the sommelier at a relatively unknown new restaurant in Paris (which was recently awarded a Michelin star). We were discussing growers, and I asked if he could pick one off the radar grower to try, which would it be. He replied “Guiborat”.
Cheers,
Warren

I saw this around but Sacha Baron Cohen’s would pop into my head and, ultimately, I would never pull the trigger

I tried the 320 recently, really interesting. Agree with the note in CT that mentions some bruised apple, there’s definitely a slight oxidative and also a bit of funky natural note, but all held together nicely. Curious if it ages. Have a bottle of 350 lined up to try one of these days.

@ybarselah and I shared a bottle of Guiborat Prisme 16 a few months ago at Claud on Chase’s recommendation. Nice wine that I’d like to revisit.

I’ve only tried the Guiborat Prisme 15, which was great.

I actually praised their 2006 Millésime here already way back in 2015 when there was no need for a thread like this
