I am incredibly honored and excited to announce a new partnership with Jancis Robinson: Here is my announcement: http://www.cellartracker.com/newsletter/12-9-2009.htm" onclick=“window.open(this.href);return false;
And Jancis’ announcement is here: http://www.jancisrobinson.com/articles/a200912081.html” onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
(And as you can see this is not limited to CellarTracker which I think is a WONDERFUL thing for Jancis, for consumers and for the industry.)
At this point I think it is marvelous to see critics like Steve Tanzer, Allen Meadows, John Gilman, Jancis Robinson (and Brad Baker, Roy Hersh and others) who are all eager to collaborate with companies like Vinfolio on CellarTracker in the interest of our customers. Kudos to all of these wonderful, open-minded, customer-focused professionals. It is an honor to work with them all!
Here’s just a thought. With so many fine critics now partnering with CT, I wonder if there’s a way to arrange some kind of CT combo package? Each of these critics has a unique voice and some specialize in certain regions, but the cost of subscribing to all of them piles up pretty quickly. Perhaps they would agree that if I choose to subscribe to (say) more than 3 through CT, there would be a discount?
Congratulations Eric.
Nice addition.
This is one of the killer app’s in my life.
It has now made the management of our Tastevin cellar possible.
(A true mess in the past)
Great job.
Greta news and congratulations Eric. I woke up this morning and the first email I received was the one from Jancis with the big news. It has been hard keeping my mouth shut about this while the beta testing was going on!
I have thought about it, would certainly love the simplicity for the users. However, the logistical challenges are enormous, and the business challenges are bigger. All of a sudden I would be playing the role of the cable/satellite provider and negotiating with the content providers about who gets how much etc. My existing deals are all very arm’s length–sort of a yours is yours and mine is mine. Anyway, it would be ambitious and is a wonderful long-term thing–but just way hard.
One thing I have tried to do is to get the critics to offer a short-term, low cost subscription (or free trial) way to trial their reviews. That has been a harder sell than one might think but a much more tractable challenge.
And thanks everyone for the kind words. There will be many more partnerships in the future, although I wonder/doubt if Parker or Spectator will ever be among them.
