Pinot Noir not in top ten of wine varieties purchased, yet Burgundy #2 in purchased regions? That’a lot of chardonnay (only #10 in grape varieties) and gamay (not listed in top ten either). Maybe #6 was supposed to be Pinot Noir and not Pinot Meunier.
Consumed 352 bottles but wrote only 12 tasting notes. Not good. While I have over 1,100 tasting notes in total, this past year I’ve been verrrry lazy. Hope to correct that in '24.
#6 = Pinot Meunier is “Favorite Varieties.” PM based Champagnes do well.
OTOH, Burgundy lovers are tough graders and Pinot Noir never ends up high on aggregate ratings. It typically ends up in the upper 80s, iirc. Which is solid and correct for many Burgs but not competitive with the world of higher scoring wines.
eta - PN was #11 with an aggregate of 90.88803142 for tasted in 2023, so upper 80s wasn’t far off.
I could make a lot of commentary on the deceptive nature of ratings in global sets, but the data we do on these reports has minimal tinkering on my end (deliberately.)
We don’t have a Top 10 on purchased/consumed varieties. I will see if I can pull that later but my previous data runs did show Pinot on top for both.
89 and 90.9 are pretty significant differences in CT scoring, no? Avg. Scores all seem bunched in an 88-91 range, with very limited exceptions, and of course some outlier scores from individuals.
Just found out I didn’t have the option for insights checked in my settings, so I didn’t receive this Insight. Any chance now that I have enabled it to receive one in any way?
