Cellar approx. 10’ wide, 14’ deep and 7’ high.
Location is Northern NJ in home basement approx. 75% underground.
My bottle count is slowly falling so I can make cellar smaller if it would save lots of money.
Thanks in advance!

I’ve had good luck with Whisperkool on my past two cellars – they will help you size it and recommend an installation method that will maximize airflow, etc., which helps with lifespan. I’ve also gotten great customer service. I find it helpful to deal with them directly.
hey i know this guy!
i would not rule out a very simple, tiny window AC (5000 btu max) combined with an external thermostat connected to the power source. i believe your cellar will be passively cold enough at least half the year?
+1 for WhisperKool. Good service, it’s been solid. Highly recommend a split system if you can swing it/retrofit.
Avoid the window a/c. Strips the humidity. Someone in my wine group used one. Lots of flawed bottles.
Split is best but expensive. Whisperkool is also a great suggestion.
Thanks!
Hadn’t thought of going directly to Whisperkool.
Very useful site.

Interesting idea but probably worth a few thousand to secure a lifetime collection.
Many of the bottle are old though not as old as me ![]()
