Caymus Suisun Grand Durif 2015 - petite Syrah
I have not had a regular Caymus in years and I know they are generally not well regarded by most here, not sure i would like them anymore. Even though I am an adventuresome person, I do not think I will be trying their new endeavor.
I saw this wine on Wine.com the other day.
Classic label, harkens back to the prior WB thread of “Next Big Region”.
Honestly, my interest in C****s is nil.
$60 is $$ for PS.
What the hell is Caymus doing with PS??
I’ve had it recently and yeah, it’s somewhat typical Wagner fare, but had a little more tannic grip and a trace of mineral. Not intended to pair with anything, but on its own was likable. Honestly, don’t you think petite is perfect for their style? I wish they would stop confecting cabernet and lean into a grape that’s better suited to withstand added concentrate and all new American oak… but seriously this was better than the last few vintages of “regular” Caymus.
Isn’t this where they’re trying to build an incredibly enormous winemaking facility?
Alfert just texted me to say he ordered a case
Nail on the head!
