Cavallotto Barolo US LOW - One of the top All-Time Icons of Barolo from an Elite Producer sub-$100

"Cavallotto may very well be the greatest Barolo producer few people have ever heard of, something that continues to mystify me. Truth is, it isn’t just the Barolos here that are impressive, the entry-level wines are every bit as delicious and well-priced…Readers who appreciate a firm, classic style of Barolo will want to spend some time getting to know Cavallotto.” – Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

95 pts Kerin O’Keefe
“Ripe red fruit, white pepper, leather, geranium and blood orange aromas come to the forefront on the stunning 2022 Freisa from Cavallotto. It’s delicious and enveloping, delivering layers of strawberry, blood orange, truffle and licorice flavors before closing on mint and a salty note. Firm, fine-grained tannins and surprisingly fresh acidity for the hot, dry vintage keep it nicely balanced. Drink 2027–2032. Abv: 14.5% Kerin O’Keefe August 2024”

“Mid ruby with orange tinges. An immediate, captivating nose, concentrated and complex. Cherry, raspberry and pet shop (in a positive sense), garden herbs and morocco leather although this has only seen large oak casks. Saline minerally hints. Very compact and embryonic on the palate with endless, fine, gravelly tannins. Monumental. (WS) 14%” Date 2023-10-13

Legendary Barolo from one of the greatest cru (MGA) vineyard sites in all of Barolo, the Bricco Boschis vineyard in Castiglione Falletto in the heart of the Barolo region. While we have this on sale at the US low price on our website, we have a special offer today at just $75 for this wine in the pack deal price. We never do gimicky sales deals or black Friday deals, but I guess this is about as close as it gets ironically!

At this price, this is one of the best Barolos for the money. For me, this is also one of the most beautiful expressions of Barolo, with soaring and deep aromatics in the nose and lasting persistence on the palate. In a vintage like 2020, the Bricco Boschis can be consumed earlier with a decant, but the wine age gracefully for decades getting better is just a couple years in the cellar!

These are in stock next week!

For sheer quality and value it is very hard to beat and is still under $100!
