Cattleya Wines ???

Anybody tried these (Chard/Pinot/Syrah)?? They’re on the pricey side.
Tom

Haven’t tried any of them yet, Tom. I believe these are the first releases from Cattleya, which is Bibiana González Rave’s own label. She’s the winemaker for Wayfarer / Pahlmeyer and had been at Lynmar before that.

In my obviously biased opinion I think Bibiana is one of the most exacting and promising young talents in winemaking today. She is doing brilliant work for us at Wayfarer and I personally buy and thoroughly enjoy her Cattleya wines. She also has a joint effort with her husband, Jeff Pisoni, called Shared Notes that consists of two insanely delicious and precise Bordeaux Blanc blends.

I just had an appointment with Bibiana today tasting 2013 Wayfarer Cuvee (Fall '15, or Spring '16 release) as well as the Cattleya and Shared Notes. Beautiful wines for sure. Notes in the next issue.

We thought the Chardonnays Bibianna made @ Lynmar were the best ever. I think it was the 09 Quail Hill that had a certain ouille characteristic, man it was awesome.

We bought the inaugural Cattleya Syrah but than moved from California and lost touch with her work. She told me via FB she was going to have a Cattleya Chardonnay release soon.

If interested in reading my thoughts on the unreleased 2013 Wayfarer Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the winery has posted my reviews on their site (from Volume 4.1 of pdwr) Wayfarer Tasting with Bibiana González Rave
