Its a definite buy at the LB price.
Code NADIA looked like it would knock 15% off for me. I didnāt buy.
I ended up biting for the 3 bottles⦠I swear every day that itās the last wine purchase for the year⦠Have to excerise restraint until the Beta offer next week
Caved for 3, and that code was good for 15% off, great shout. Where did you find that code?
Glad it worked for you. On a whim, I googled āLast Bottle Coupon Codeā and there it was. I ended up going for a 4 packā¦
I tried several times over the years and never had any luck so stopped looking. This now gave me a reason to resurrect that practice.
I love the wines of Smith Haut Lafitte and find the Blanc to be one of the most compelling whites around. I have also thoroughly enjoyed the wines of Flora Springs. But this Cathiard venture confuses me. I tasted the Cabernet Sauvignon earlier this year, found it rather soft and dull, and was then told that the release price was $400. Now, I am not the target consumer for this wine, clearly, but this is lunacy.
By all accounts the Cathiard family are wonderful people and I wish them well, but they mustāve seen this coming from a mile away.
Iād hope so. If you buy a vineyard, change the advertising and triple the prices you shouldnāt expect consumers to blindly follow along.
I believe they are trying to build up the member list to get those guaranteed orders every year. That was the conversation I had with them in their kitchen earlier this year in Bordeaux.
They have several hundred people but it has to be tough to gain traction in this market. I donāt know where they got the $400 price point to start. That is a tough price point to enter this market when you see threads about $250 bottles being too expensive. They needed to build a track record before going that high.
I had a similar conversation, their wines are priced too high though. They have a good vineyard but need time to tune it to their ways. I recently visited SHL and honestly I previously said I found their wines too highly priced in Bordeaux but I am now a buyer again. Their Napa property will eventually equal the quality of Bordeaux however they need time. $125 is too high it should be $75 for their entry level, this is a winery to watch 10+ years down the line, but they started too hot.
When they loaded the bin at my Costco with the Hora about a month ago, my gut feeling that it was primed for a markdown.
It was only today that I actually learned anything about them because I had never heard of them prior to that.
