Back at Cam dN days, maybe 1 batch in 30-40 was “unicorn” value. Others were just good value deals.
Remains to be seen how the Cam X wines pan out in the unicorn scale. So far we’ve seen 2 that I think earn that status, just because of the source. Eagerly waiting for shipping to start.

I think that’s a case of tagging branding to
unicorn. I get it. But there’s a ton of great wine out there that wasn’t made by TRB or a screagle AW.

Can’t speak of the FM deals but I think even tagging branding to unicorn of only 2 isn’t correct.
I’m thinking of shipping some Winevip buys in a couple weeks

I guess our definition of unicorn is different. If it’s a Cam special blend, or sketchy source guess, I don’t think any of those are unicorn deals, unless they punch way above their price point.
Just saying something is a $150 wine for $139/case does not an unicorn make.
Without tasting, I’d say 14 and 19 deserve that title.
Others need to be tasted before I consider them unicorns.

Find me some Peter Michael, Bergmann, and Paul Hobbs Coombsville on the cheap. Excluding 14 and 19.

Lot 7 is a Cam special. It’s not “Paul Hobbs” (even if blending components might be from them, it’s still a Cam special blend). Needs tasting before considered unicorn.

Agree that we don’t know which of the lots on offer will be a unicorn - but given Cam’s track record and the current state of the wine industry, I’m willing to throw down a few bucks on a lot or twenty with expectation of a pretty solid hit rate.

All just a guess. Nothing more than wishful thinking, wanting a too-good-to-be-true bargain. It’s possible, but unlikely, IMO, especially lot 5. Why is it so difficult to say these will be very good for the price and leave it at that?

Most people aren’t buying a case of wine 2 to 3 times a week. I find incredible deals 5 to 10 times a year some I take advantage of some I don’t but they are incredible deals and I know what I’m drinking.

May I just point out that we are very fortunate to have Cam in our lives. Quality of our lives boosted, right? Some folk on here don’t actually deserve the love & attention curated IMO.
