Latour Family owns it now, seems old winemaking to me, though not what I initially was thinking of course. Price, oak, location, grapes all match up otherwise.
Otherwise Baldacci Stella Knight but I don’t think the location description for the vineyard fits well.
Interesting that Lot 4 is lower alcohol than the two chards listed there. Rules nothing out, clearly could just be lot selections that didn’t make their cut?
That’s what I was wondering too. Lot 4 is 14% according to the label from COLA database but only 13.2% on the website. Also it’s ~50% new oak compared to the 30-35% from Platt’s Estate. My guess is that the lower alcohol is from the less ripen blocks according to Platt’s 2023 harvest.
Very tempting to get more than 3 cases for Lot 4 but I’m holding out for Lot 30 Chard. And 31 and 35 PN too
I read this as they had a riper profile and less oak desired on the final product and like you said, the selection Cam received is likely quite good, but on the leaner side and with a bit more oak than they desired. I still think it’s gonna be awesome.
Anyone consider Larkmead for Lot 25?
“Larkmead Vineyards is one of the oldest family-owned establishments in Napa Valley. Originally founded in 1895, the 115-acre Larkmead estate is now under the stewardship of the Solari-Baker family.”
Do they have a Calistoga SVD? I see their Estate Cab sorta matches, not exactly a SVD. Price is good, they usually include Cab Franc but don’t see why Cam couldn’t end with a different mix, so that’s fine. Funny they don’t list it as their AVA, but does seem like it is in Calistoga. Family history is good.
Not sure it’s a better match match than Eisele Altagracia or Baldacci Stella Knight, but it’s in the mix.
