Any one know what this is all about?
Comes in a very non-Calera bottle with a very non-Calera label. Was this something Duckhorn brought in? It references the 1973 plantings on the back label. Website only lists 2 vintage, CT lists more.
Wine is pretty good. Not sure I love it, but it may just need more air. It’s got a lot better since I opened it (around an hour as I write this)
As you know, Duckhorn is doing a lot more business in our area now that they own Calera. And as you also know, Bien Nacido is a very large vineyard and they do sell a lot of their fruit - as well as bulk wine, too . . .
Cheers.
Yes, but this technically pre-dates the Duckhorn purchase. Was just curious if there was any other information any one had about why this might have been added to the Calera portfolio so late in the Jensen era.
I think, but am not sure, Calera has been buying Bien Nacido fruit for years for their Central Coast bottling.
