Burgundy Vintage Notes for the People (<$200 MV)

Guess they’re not really moving since they just sent out another email blast on the '90. I think it’s just overpriced. It would move at $175.

Not surprised, they aren’t the most popular wines.

Just picked up a ‘90 and ‘05 to try after seeing the mail. Curious if the ‘05 is any more approachable than ‘10 CSJ was a few weeks ago. Haven’t had these prior to ‘08.

I haven’t had the 05 in many years but I think it’s a bit more accessible than some 05s.

Had to snag the two 10s after your recommendation.

I can’t think of a burg deal “for the people” much better than the 2017 Pavelot Dominode for $49.99 at Envoyer right now. The wine is among the most reliable value burgs every vintage and for you pointillists, this particular edition is a Gillman 94+/Burghound 92.

Absolutely. Just finished off a case of 2013 last year that was really good an have a bunch of vintages on hand. I might even give the nod to Gravains, but both have never let me down.

Champagne’s Market in Lafayette, LA once again delivers!

Huge fruit nose, very fresh, strawberries, cherries. Palate is a little less interesting than the nose. Full bodied with a bit of a truncated finish. Red fruits for sure, a bit of minerals, not a lot else. Good but not great, no complaints at $76.

They also have the 2019 Bouchard CM village which I’ll try next. People on CT rave about it, for what that’s worth.

Btw the clos vougeot is 149 now.

Thanks! Which do you like better?

Folks here looking for a good burgundy at a reasonable price could do far worse than 2022 Domaine Dujardin Monthélie 1er Cru Les Champs Fulliots – an @Robert_Panzer import, this will improve with time in the cellar to come together a bit more, but was really enjoyable yesterday. Red fruited with lovely floral notes, and some minerality along the spine. Nice finish as well.
