Burgundy - Domaine Robert Sirugue

Bought some Vosne Romanee Petits Monts from this producer 2009 vintage as well as some Vosne-Romanée Vieilles Vignes 2007. Any information as to what to expect? I have read a bit about this Domaine and seems they have improved considerably in the last 4 or 5 vintages.

I plan to open the 2007 but would like to cellar the Petits Monts.

Hi Sebastian,

I haven’t tried any newer wines from the Domaine, but I’ve had very good experiences in the past. From a six-pack of 1997 Chambolle-Musigny “Les Mombies” (Village wine), the five bottles I’ve drank so far provided excellent drinking pleasure and they’re holding well (I have one left). Also the 1997 Vosne-Romanée was very good most of the time. I had some difficulties with the 1996 Vosne-Romanée as it stayed fairly hard and overly acidic even with extended cellar time.

Hey Sebastian!
Didn’t know you were a ‘Wine Berserker’ guy! I like this producer, had a bottle of the '09 ‘Petits Monts’ back a few weeks ago, thought it was really good Burg. I think the Petits Monts is the ‘value’ here as the vineyard is right above Richebourg, to the left of Reignots and to the right of Cros Parantoux, at a fraction of the cost (of Richebourg and Cros Parantoux). If you google them, Clive Coates says that there was a turnover at the estate a few vintages ago, the son came back, decided to make ‘real’ Burgundy, started doing all the right things. This could be a winner at a very reasonable cost. I’m going to buy a bunch of the '09 and '10…

Thanks!!. I bought some 09, maybe ill get some 10’s.

All roads lead to Rome…

As a late reaction in this Thread: domaine Robert Sirugue offers great value for money. Their GRANDS ECHEZEAUX is superb. Unfortunately there isn’t enough of it to satify a thirsty world. Since the domaine is not that well known it feels good to be able to buy there. Even the 2011 was superb as i already stated in many other threads. PETITS MONTS should be great too but there my experience is limited.

SINCERELY JOHAN

Petite monts seems well priced
