maybe interesting;
never read this blog before, but I really like the way he writes his notes. It’s casual and fresh and I can really understand the wine he had after reading the notes, even if some notes are only a sentence or two. Will follow this dude and read more. Thanks Roman.
had also ever DRC "arrivage* -notes;
Very nice notes, not over the top and to the point. I suppose there may have been backups but there was no mention of prem-ox.
2004 DRC Eche is an awesome wine, was served this blind and was shocked when told it was an 04.
Not only does he score in quarter points, on a 20pt scale, he makes even more granular distinctions - one wine got 18.15. Thats precision.
agree–have had it a few times. Were the wines served blind in this tasting?
Who is writing these notes, Roman?
?
Will Hargrove?
Will Hargrove - a wine merchant located in London, England - according to his Blog.
I was thinking that I don’t get the scoring/notes at all. He has the same range scores for the 2004 reds that he finds disappointing as the non-2004 reds that he finds were a treat and impressive.
I’m going to a 2004 (reds) dinner tonight. It will be interesting.
Clive likes some of these reds quite a bit. I have to say they are filling out nicely. I don’t have a lot of these but I am excited to see a few looking pretty good. The DRC wines from 2004 are absolutely fabulous for the vintage especially the La Tache. FWIW.
It seems Tom Blach has been vindicated for his stance on 2004s!.. except Clive advises to drink them soon or between now and 2020 while Tom generally likes them older.
I totally agree…
If you owned 2004 red, it is not a vintage to drink them all up when they were young; and is not also a vintage to keep like 2005 or 1996. For the upper-end reds, wait until 2016…
