As most Burg fans must know by now, as of the 07 vintage, Nicolas Potel is now Domaine Potel. Apparently Nicolas bought his own property / winery or something. I don’t have the major details, nor do I know if Nicolas Potel wines in their current form prior to 07 will exist after the 06 vintage. Anyone got more info on that and also - where in the US are the new Domaine Potel wines available?

Rob – I visited Nicolas in Beaune two weeks ago and tasted the wines. He has both estate wines and negociant wines for 2008. The wines are sold under a different name (sorry I don’t have my notes here and don’t recall it offhand) because Labouré-Roi owns the Nicolas Potel name. Fans (which includes me) of the wines prior to 2008 under the Nicolas Potel label will like these new wines, too. So far (or at least as of two weeks ago when I was there), there is no US importer.
What inquiring minds really want to know…will Nicolas Potel continue making Gaudichots?

It will Domaine De Bellene, and the negociant will be Maison Roche De Bellene. What I want to know is whether Cottin Freres are going to ditch their stocks of Maison Potel wines, thus diluting the price of the very considerable amount still available here, or whether these wines will become rare and sought after.
Yes, that’s it, Tom. Here’s a link to the website: http://www.domainedebellene.com/. The website indicates that Wildman is the US importer; I don’t know if that’s new or not – Nicolas had indicated to me that he was still talking to them, but perhaps he finalized it and updated his website.
Wildman is the importer on all of the current Nicolas Potel wines that I have. Makes sense to stick with them I guess.
Interesting list of wines they are releasing on the website. Looks like no Grand Cru wines.
The WS article gives a great background of information into the history of Potel and the future. Certainly will be keeping Domaine de Bellene on the radar.
