Well, as always, the best plans get derailed!

Last night, we were at Bodega Malbec for a work get together. We were a couple of glasses of Zaha Malbec 2021 into it (weird to be served this wine out of the blue when I had a bottle of 2014 in my cellar not knowing where it came from: What bottle of wine did you open today? (Part 2) - #8182 by Phil_T_r_o_t_t_e_r, the 2021 is no better) when the place caught fire!

Grease fire in the ventilation. The organizer found a backup in the Palma Ristorante on Palm Ave E. The beef tartare was over-seasoned and the bone marrow had too much garlic. However, the Wagyu Ribeye Tip was quite good and the Brussel sprouts were decent. We started the meal with cocktails (old-fashioned for me, Manhattan for others) an we had the 2022 Château Loudennes and an Antinori Chianti from another table. Meh wine night. We ended the night way too late at the hotel bar clearing old-fashioned after old-fashioned.

Tonight we hit Anajak and had a pretty decent meal (Hamachi crudo, prawns, grilled cabbage, pork collar, pork ribs and drunken noodles). We had a chat with Ian the Wine Director, lovely guy. We picked Les Quatre Piliers Bel Air 2022 because I love this wine, never had this vintage and can’t get it in Quebec. We ended with a Nerello Mascalese. We enjoyed the food and the wines. The vibe was chill and the service was on point. Good place.

We’re flying back to Montreal from LAX very early tomorrow AM so The Famous was out of reach. Next time!

Thank you all for the pointers and recommendations. It helped us overcome this terrible weather we had all week!
