Brion Wine in Napa?

Hey WB’ers- does anyone have any experience visiting Brion in Yountville? I tried searching but got a million hits for Haut Brion, so yeah that wasn’t helpful.

Apparently it’s a collection of single vineyards (Sleeping Lady, Oakville Ranch, Caldwell and Moon) made by Julien Fayard, Mark Herold, and others. But there is limited reviews on CT and only a couple
from Galloni and Dunnuck.

I’m considering a visit while up there in three weeks and any intel would be appreciated!

Visited in June this year. Definitely worth a visit to see the restored barn. Here my notes, posted in a CT tasting story but not entered wine by wine. Hope this helps.

Great visit with Michael at Sleeping Lady Vineyard. Arrived and promptly greeted with a glass of Dom Perignon. Loved the set up and tasting area in the old restored barn. Exciting things happening here. The 2016 were delicious and it looks like the 2018s are going to be as good as reviewed by AG.

2016 Moon Mtn—I love Sonoma Moon Mountain cabs this was excellent though more on the restrained side with a bit of a sweet note still lingering from the oak.

2016 Caldwell—This was my favorite of the tasting, I love Coombsville cabs, blue and black fruited, starting to integrate nicely. Still think this needs to lay down for another few years. Bought.

2016 Sleeping Lady—Mrs loved this, Sleeping Lady is not my thing, doesn’t matter who is making it. Bought 2 for her and to see what happens with a bit of age.

2016 Oakville Ranch—at the beginning I would have told you this would win as I am an Eastern Oakville homer. Wrong! This was good, not great, and finished well behind the other offerings.

2018 Ecotone barrel blend-this was poured last and cleared the bases! I can’t remember the exact blend, but believe it to be CS/Merlot/Petit Verdot. While somewhat tannic, the pieces and parts danced on the palate and left a long finish, making us forget about the lovely wined poured earlier. If it sounds like I am crushing on the this, you’re right, I am. Wines were opened the day before.

Thanks Michael that was very helpful. I enjoy Fayard’s wines, love Sleeping Lady and Caldwell, and heard that Moon Mt is great terroir as well.
