Brief TN: Ceritas 2017 Charles Heintz Chardonnay

I just received my shipment this week, and some of the information that accompanied the wine said it was drinking well today, but the drinking window is the next 10 years. It is good now, but Ceritas lovers know these are great with a bit of age on them.

Very light straw color. A bouquet of white flowers, meyer lemon, lemon verbena. Plenty of acid on the palate, leading to a somewhat astringent finish.

It was instructive and enjoyable, but I have a good feeling of what it will be in a few years. Glad I took 6.

Some vintages need time to tame the searing acidity. The fruit seems to take a while to balance the cut. I love this wine with a bit of bottle age.
Thanks for the note, Merrill.

Just got my shipment now. Don’t want to hold it too long want to taste it.

Love the Ceritas chards, but my purchases will be slowing as the pricing and shipping continues rising. It’s all good though as my purchasing is slowing across the board with pending retirement.

Love all their wines!

Agree about lemon verbena!
