Breezaire Cooling Units

Since I can’t contact Breezaire until Monday…does anyone have a feel for the life expectancy of one of their cooling units? I’m approaching 8 years on my current unit and it appears to not be cooling as I have come to expect. I’ve done the troubleshooting that might compromise cooling efficiency.

Thanks, Tom

I have three of them, originally analog units now 2 digital and 1 analog. I have been buying them for the last 15 years - both new and refurbished from a guy in San Diego. I would say that 8 years is about right for life expectancy because of the coolant part of the equation.

About 6 years

What is the difference between digital and analog?

Tom

I have one that is 13 years old in a La Cache cabinet that holds about 220 bottles and is doing fine. I replaced one at 10 years that was in a cabinet that holds about 540 bottles.

I used a CellarCool unit in my first cellar - designed to fit the same size opening as a Breezaire, the CellarCool is newer, better-designed, and quieter. WhisperKool makes them, clearly to grab some business from a competitor with a reputation for failing units.

Of course when I moved to a new house I had to start from scratch (the buyer didn’t want a hole in his new cellar wall) and I ended up buying a CellarPro - which I like even better.

Bought mine in 1999, still going strong. Had to replace the fan motor about 5 years ago, otherwise no problems at all.

I guess I should add I have the WKL 4000 and it is cooling a cellar the size of a small bedroom. I would assume cabinet coolers have a longer life expectancy?
